Local organizations are stepping up to help Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. Bags and boxes full of clothes, shoes, and non-perishable food items are getting ready to be sent to Texas to aid in the relief efforts."They got a long road to recovery, and the little bit that we can do, even though they're going to need a large quantity, every little bit is going to help," says former youth paster at Christian Life Center, Kevin Harper.Hurricane victims in Texas are desperately in need. Soon, they'll receive these donations coming in to the Christian Life Center in Kingsport."Water, non-perishable food items, toiletries, toothbrush, deodorant, baby items, anything of that nature, batteries, flashlights, anything that would help the victims down there," Harper says.At East Tennessee Funeral Home and Cremation Services/Cemetery in Blountville, collections have also started for Hurricane Harvey victims."Things like this can happen, you know, other things can happen around here and we certainly want other people to be helping us and that's what we want to do is help other people," says funeral home director, Bill DeBusk.Donations will be accepted at the East Tennessee Funeral Home across from Tri-Cities Airport, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
